Winkleigh Cottages
Cottages for families and friends in and around Winkleigh

Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whatever time you go to Winkleigh, we'd like to suggest some things to take to improve your stay. You can never be sure of the weather, so take something to protect you from the rain - ideally something that can be packed in a rucksack just in case.

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. Lastly we think turning up with a few things to eat and drink is a good start to your holiday - there's nothing worse than grumpy kids or friends when its time to unpack, and a little chocolate or a cup of coffee can work wonders. We find it really hard to decide which type of cottage we like best. Generally we just enjoy going away!

Winkleigh Accomodation

Winkleigh holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. July and August are usually Devon school summer holidays.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Last minute bookings are alway possible, though clearly your choices will be fewer. It really is worth booking early.

In recent years there has been an increase in the size of cottage agencies. Generally speaking that means that someone is always checking the quality of Winkleigh accommodation, either in person, or based on customer feedback.

Holiday Cottages

When you're searching for the best cottage for your stay, make sure that you've thought through the bedroom needs and allocation. Are you looking for a quaint old stone cottage in Winkleigh with an open fire - or something a little more child friendly with nice warm carpets and central heating?

Most dog owners like to take their four legged friends away with them on trips to Winkleigh. It's a good idea to ask the owner or agency whether you can take your pet inside the Winkleigh cottage. And let them know if it's not a dog!

Don't forget to make the most of your Devon holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Families, Friends and More

We think that self-catering is the best way to holiday in Winkleigh. No pressure from the owner to eat meals at specific times, when you are self-catering the food is ready when you want it to be ready.

And it also gives the freedom of eating out without needing to reorganise any plans in your accomodation. You don't need to tell anyone, just sit down and order! For many people the idea of a Winkleigh cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

For many, however, its a chance to really do something active, from running and mountain biking to swimming and climbing.
