Cottages for families and friends in and around Stornoway

Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whenever you're travelling to Stornoway, there are a few things you should always take with you. Start with something to keep the rain away. You can never really be sure of the weather. An umbrella and a raincoat are a good start!

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. And then we always make sure we have good supplies with us when we arrive so that we can sit down and have a cup of coffee and perhaps a piece of cake before we start that boring unpacking! We have stayed in many types of cottage, and we've decided we like both traditional and modern - it just depends on where we're going.

Stornoway Accomodation

Benefits of staying in a county cottage include being able to jump out of the front door and take part in outdoor pursuits from walking to horse riding, and from fishing to paddling. Trusting the sun to shine every day is rather optimistic in Stornoway regardless of the time of year.

When the weather takes a turn for the worse its a great time to stay indoors and play some classic family games. Some cottages will provide a few books and magazines but you aren't likely to get the latest blockbuster or this month's Vogue.

Wer're sure you'll come up with a great plan, but it might help to have one in advance. Just in case!

Holiday Cottages

In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Stornoway please email or call the agency you made the booking with. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Stornoway holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract.

The cottage owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. If you're travelling from a long way, you may not know much about Stornoway so we suggest a little research in advance to find the best attractions.

A few properties have access to outdoor swimming pools, but please remember that these are often only accessible during the summer months, and that you are responsible for you own safety!

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering holidays can be the most fun in Stornoway. No worrying about getting to the dining room in time, either before the hotel declares that breakfast is over, or trying to fit in with other b and b guests.

Eat what you want, whenever you want it. And of course that's particularly good if anyone in your party suffers from food allergies or has other dietary requirements. For many people the idea of a Stornoway cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

For many, however, its a chance to really do something active, from running and mountain biking to swimming and climbing.
