Large or small cottage, holiday makers have the freedom to eat in, eat out, stay in bed all day and generally come and go as they please - unlike a bed and breakfast. We know many of our visitors like to take their dogs with them and many cottages now allow this. We can help if you're looking for a holiday cottage or other accommodation in Stafford to stay in with your family for a week or two or somewhere in Stafford to stay with friends over a long weekend.

Stafford Accomodation

Stafford holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. The summer holiday period (for schools) runs from mid-July through the whole of August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Cottage agencies are growing in size as a greater number of independents sign up with them. As a consumer this has a positive impact - in theory the facilities and standards are kept to a pre-agreed level.

Holiday Cottages

In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Stafford please email or call the agency you made the booking with. Nearly all country cottages have free parking near the property, but you may find the urban cottages to have more parking restrictions.

The cottage owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. If you're travelling from a long way, you may not know much about Stafford so we suggest a little research in advance to find the best attractions.

Some people ask whether bed linens and towels are provide, and in our experience linen is yes, towels can be no - but you should check with the owner / agency.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering holidays can be the most fun in Stafford. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. We know many people who consider a holiday cottage as the perfect way to wind down after a busy urban lifestyle - sleep in, take lazy walks through the countryside and take more time over meals.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
