Cottages for families and friends in and around St Fillans

Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whenever you're travelling to St Fillans, there are a few things you should always take with you. Start with something to keep the rain away. You can never really be sure of the weather. An umbrella and a raincoat are a good start!

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. Finally you should take a few initial supplies, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some cheese. Of course you can usually buy them locally but it's easy to forget and there's nothing better than a cup of tea before you start unpacking. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

St Fillans Accomodation

The rates for St Fillans cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. The school summer holidays generally run from the middle of July to late August.

Summer half-term usually appears in the first couple of weeks in June, although different types of schools have different dates. It's recommended to make an early booking to ensure your date, especially during high season, but it's not impossible to find a last minute opportunity.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

All the booking agents we work with have good customer service teams, so please contact them if you have additional questions or encounter any problems. Nearly all country cottages have free parking near the property, but you may find the urban cottages to have more parking restrictions.

Although you may not be familiar with the St Fillans area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. St Fillans Perth and Kinross cottages in are not just good value, but also offer the benefits of home comforts versus a hotel.

Some properties will ask for a security deposit before your arrival date - although this is required in a minority of accommodation and you will be advised at time of booking.

Families, Friends and More

The best part of going on holiday with a family is the sense of comfort you all get when walking into a St Fillans holiday cottage - where everything there is designed to make your stay better! When you're travelling as a family with young kids there are several things we recommend you take with you.

First of all, make sure you remember their shampoo, since not all stores in St Fillans will carry tear-free shampoo. Snacks for the car can make the trip to St Fillans much more pleasant - bored kids with low blood sugar are not the perfect companions.

Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
