We love cottage holidays and South Yorkshire has some really great destinations and properties to rent, for families or groups of friends. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments. Your chosen cottage should be clean and tidy on arrival, and if it is not you should inform the owner or agency immediately so that they can sort it out swiftly. Dog owners favour cottage holidays because many properties will not just allow pets but provide a few basic supplies. We often have late availability cottages to rent in Dore for all seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Getting outside is one of the great benefits of staying in the countryside since so many of us live in urban centres where the air is polluted and greenery is a rarity. As we all know, the weather isn't always idyllic - in fact it can be largely unpredictable. When the weather takes a turn for the worse its a great time to stay indoors and play some classic family games. Cottage owners sometimes leave a few distractions around the property, such as local magazines or guidebooks. Alternatively get back in the car, drive to a local pub, and hole up for the day in front of a fire and a couple of pints.
Our site does not make reservations directly and so we ask that any queries you have with the Dore cottage are taken up with the owner or agency. Some of the best cottages in Dore are really excellent and so we encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid availability disappointment. The owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. South Yorkshire and Dore are great locations for a cottage holiday due to their proximity to local facilities and amenities. Some properties will ask for a security deposit before your arrival date - although this is required in a minority of accommodation and you will be advised at time of booking.

Families love cottage holidays because they can run to their own schedule, managing everyone's unique needs in the privacy of a comfortable home. Young children are always excited about self-catering breaks, but we've collated a short list of things to help it go smoothly! First of all, make sure you remember their shampoo, since not all stores in Dore will carry tear-free shampoo. Check whether the cottage can supply cots or high chairs if you need them - you may be surprised how common this is in Dore. You'll need to think about a few of their favourite books and games to help them feel at home in the cottage and settle in for a good nights sleep.
