Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whatever time you go to SW12, we'd like to suggest some things to take to improve your stay. Preparing for a little rain is always a good plan. An umbrella and an anorak or rain coat can get everyone smiling even on the worse days.

We think a good book is another essential. Not just an opportunity to catch up on your reading, but also to pass the time waiting for everyone else to get themselves ready, or wait out the rain! Although you can buy your essential food and drink items locally, it's great to have them with you so you can make a sandwich or a cup of coffee as soon as you arrive. Many people have favourite places they return to again and again, whereas we like to find new places to stay.

SW12 Accomodation

SW12 holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. It's recommended to make an early booking to ensure your date, especially during high season, but it's not impossible to find a last minute opportunity.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

Holiday Cottages

As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. Some of the best cottages in SW12 are really excellent and so we encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid availability disappointment.

Although you may not be familiar with the SW12 area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. SW12 cottages in are not just good value, but also offer the benefits of home comforts versus a hotel.

Some people ask whether bed linens and towels are provide, and in our experience linen is yes, towels can be no - but you should check with the owner / agency.

Families, Friends and More

We think that self-catering is the best way to holiday in SW12. No pressure from the owner to eat meals at specific times, when you are self-catering the food is ready when you want it to be ready.

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. We know many people who consider a holiday cottage as the perfect way to wind down after a busy urban lifestyle - sleep in, take lazy walks through the countryside and take more time over meals.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
