Cottages for families and friends in and around Ormiston

Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whenever you're travelling to Ormiston, there are a few things you should always take with you. Definitely pack some waterproof clothing. There's no such thing as a guarantee against the rain and there's nothing worse than being stuck inside.

If you have a DVD player in the East Lothian cottage, definitely take a few great movies. It's so enjoyable to curl up in the evening and watch a classic film. Finally you should take a few initial supplies, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some cheese. Of course you can usually buy them locally but it's easy to forget and there's nothing better than a cup of tea before you start unpacking. We love finding great new cottages, part of the fun of a holiday is not quite knowing where you're going!

Ormiston Accomodation

Besides the facilities within the Ormiston cottages, our guests have been known to talk long walks, go horse riding and even more adventurous activities such as climbing. As we all know, the weather isn't always idyllic - in fact it can be largely unpredictable.

We live in a country where we're no stranger to rain and preparing for the inevitable downpour is always a good idea. Many cottages now have DVD players so maybe its worth taking a few a classic movies with you.

Alternatively get back in the car, drive to a local pub, and snuggle up for the day in front of a fire and a couple of pints.

Holiday Cottages

Before you start to research your holiday accommodation, it's worth asking everyone what they are looking for. If you have young kids in the party you may want to think twice about open fires, and of course some of the oldest cottages may have lower ceilings than those you are used to.

Dog owners often like to spend their holidays in the UK so that they can take their four legged friends with them. We always suggest that you check with the owner if there are no pet details listed. And even if there are, it can be a good idea to let them know so they can put out a bowl of water for your dog's arrival.

Don't forget to make the most of your East Lothian holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Families, Friends and More

There are few better ways to spend a holiday together as a family than in a holiday cottage where everyone truly is in one place, not dotted around a hotel. We've prepared a handy shortlist of things to remember for your holiday with kids, just to help the whole experience go well.

Although its not to all parents' tastes, you can buy very cheap in-car DVD players to amuse the kids, and they can often be plugged into the standard power sockets when you arrive. Snacks for the car can make the trip to Ormiston much more pleasant - bored kids with low blood sugar are not the perfect companions.

Clothes for the full range of weather; just because you don't think that it looks good outside in the rain it doesn't mean that the little ones will agree.
