We love cottage holidays and Norfolk has some really great destinations and properties to rent, for families or groups of friends. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments. Cottage owners expect you to leave the property in the same condition as you found it - clean and tidy - and will almost always provide cleaning materials for you. We know many of our visitors like to take their dogs with them and many cottages now allow this. We can help if you're looking for a holiday cottage or other accommodation in Heydon to stay in with your family for a week or two or somewhere in Heydon to stay with friends over a long weekend.

Benefits of staying in a county cottage include being able to jump out of the front door and take part in outdoor pursuits from walking to horse riding, and from fishing to paddling. As we all know, the weather isn't always idyllic - in fact it can be largely unpredictable. If the rainclouds arrive it may be a good idea to stay inside and get out a pack of cards or an old fashioned board game. Many cottages now have DVD players so maybe its worth taking a few a classic movies with you. Or just ignore the rain and get on with whatever you had initially planned and be determined that a little water will not spoil the day.
As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. Everyone owner or lettings agency can have a slightly different cancellation policy so please be sure to check before you make your reservation. Although you may not be familiar with the local area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. Heydon cottages in Norfolk are not just good value, but also offer the benefits of home comforts versus a hotel. Some people ask whether bed linens and towels are provide, and in our experience linen is yes, towels can be no - but you should check with the owner / agency.

Young children and babies can be more easily accommodated for in a holiday cottage where the parents do not feel pressure from other families who may not have young children. When you're travelling as a family with young kids there are several things we recommend you take with you. If your kids ideal break is to be locked in their room with a video games machine, then prepare the outside adventure with bikes, kites and other stuff to get them out having fun. If the children are really young, don't forget to take nappies and / or a potty as you may find it harder to buy these at your destination. Finally, remember to take your camera - there's nothing better than seeing smiling, happy faces running around and you'll want to capture them.
