If you have a DVD player in the Oxfordshire cottage, definitely take a few great movies. It's so enjoyable to curl up in the evening and watch a classic film. There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

Nettlebed Accomodation

In Nettlebed, high season tends to match the summer school holidays, with mid-season a month either side. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

Summer half-term usually appears in the first couple of weeks in June, although different types of schools have different dates. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

Families, Friends and More

There are few better ways to spend a holiday together as a family than in a holiday cottage where everyone truly is in one place, not dotted around a hotel. We've prepared a handy shortlist of things to remember for your holiday with kids, just to help the whole experience go well.

First of all, make sure you remember their shampoo, since not all stores in Nettlebed will carry tear-free shampoo. Check whether the cottage can supply cots or high chairs if you need them - you may be surprised how common this is in Nettlebed.

Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
