Many holiday cottages to discover!

Whatever time you go to Milford, we'd like to suggest some things to take to improve your stay. You can never be sure of the weather, so take something to protect you from the rain - ideally something that can be packed in a rucksack just in case.

We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. Although you can buy your essential food and drink items locally, it's great to have them with you so you can make a sandwich or a cup of coffee as soon as you arrive. We have stayed in many types of cottage, and we've decided we like both traditional and modern - it just depends on where we're going.

Milford Accomodation

Milford holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. The school summer holidays generally run from the middle of July to late August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Booking early is always a good idea. You have a much better chance of getting your preferred date and accommodation. But, that doesn't mean its impossible to get a late booking.

Cottage agencies are growing in size as a greater number of independents sign up with them. As a consumer this has a positive impact - in theory the facilities and standards are kept to a pre-agreed level.

Holiday Cottages

As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Milford holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract.

Many owners, if they are local, will be pleased to give you tips on the best pubs and restaurants around, so make sure you ask and take advantage of the info! Milford cottages range in size and price, but based on our knowledge of the cottage agencies and owners, all should be good quality.

If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.

Families, Friends and More

We think that self-catering is the best way to holiday in Milford. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. We know many people who consider a holiday cottage as the perfect way to wind down after a busy urban lifestyle - sleep in, take lazy walks through the countryside and take more time over meals.

There's also a growing number of holidaymakers who just want to get really energetic and try new things, including abseiling, rafting, climbing and even potholing.
