Your chosen cottage should be clean and tidy on arrival, and if it is not you should inform the owner or agency immediately so that they can sort it out swiftly. We know many of our visitors like to take their dogs with them and many cottages now allow this. Our great value holiday cottages to rent in Meare are sometimes available for rent for a weekend, week, fortnight, two weeks or even longer.

Meare Accomodation

Children love to get out of the cottage (not because the cottages aren't great, but because its fun to play outside!) and this is a great benefit of staying in a country cottage. Banking on non-stop sunny Somerset weather, however, can be a little short-sighted.

When the weather takes a turn for the worse its a great time to stay indoors and play some classic family games. With wi-fi more and more common (but don't expect urban speeds) you could even download a few great tv shows or games.

Alternatively get back in the car, drive to a local pub, and snuggle up for the day in front of a fire and a couple of pints.

Our site does not make reservations directly and so we ask that any queries you have with the Meare cottage are taken up with the owner or agency. Should you need to cancel your accommodation, again we ask you to contact the agent or owner since we cannot talk to them on your behalf.

Many owners, if they are local, will be pleased to give you tips on the best pubs and restaurants around, so make sure you ask and take advantage of the info! Meare has long been popular as a place to stay and we encourage you to investigate the surrounding area as much as possible.

If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering always makes your holiday more relaxing in Meare. It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. Waking up without the alarm, cooking a nice hearty breakfast, perhaps sitting by the river for a spot of fishing or just reading a book.

For many, however, its a chance to really do something active, from running and mountain biking to swimming and climbing.
