Staying in a Lower Shiplake holiday cottage can be a perfect way to take a break as you can forget about household chores and focus on having fun, or a relaxing break. A larger number of cottages will accept pets (and for pets, read 'dogs') but you must check first. We can help if you're looking for a holiday cottage or other accommodation in Lower Shiplake to stay in with your family for a week or two or somewhere in Lower Shiplake to stay with friends over a long weekend.

Lower Shiplake Accomodation

Throughout the Oxfordshire area rates will vary quite a bit throughout the year - clearly the winter is the cheapest time. School holidays tend to be mid-July to the end of August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

Holiday Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. If you have young kids in the party you may want to think twice about open fires, and of course some of the oldest cottages may have lower ceilings than those you are used to.

Many Lower Shiplake visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. Not all places will welcome pets so please make sure that it's either clearly marked on the booking website, or if not drop a quick line to the owner to make sure.

Have a great holiday, wherever you stay. Hopefully it will be in a Oxfordshire cottage found through us!

Families, Friends and More

We think that self-catering is the best way to holiday in Lower Shiplake. It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).

And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. Relaxing by the river, reading a great novel, perhaps a pint in the pub - these are some of the favourite ways to enjoy some quiet time in Lower Shiplake.

For many, however, its a chance to really do something active, from running and mountain biking to swimming and climbing.
