We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. Although you can buy your essential food and drink items locally, it's great to have them with you so you can make a sandwich or a cup of coffee as soon as you arrive. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

Throughout the Kent area rates will vary quite a bit throughout the year - clearly the winter is the cheapest time. The school summer holidays generally run from the middle of July to late August.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. It's recommended to make an early booking to ensure your date, especially during high season, but it's not impossible to find a last minute opportunity.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

The cottage owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. Iden Green is a great locations for a cottage holiday due to their proximity to local facilities and amenities.

Some people ask whether bed linens and towels are provide, and in our experience linen is yes, towels can be no - but you should check with the owner / agency.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Iden Green. No worrying about getting to the dining room in time, either before the hotel declares that breakfast is over, or trying to fit in with other b and b guests.

And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. Relaxing by the river, reading a great novel, perhaps a pint in the pub - these are some of the favourite ways to enjoy some quiet time in Iden Green.
