If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. And then we always make sure we have good supplies with us when we arrive so that we can sit down and have a cup of coffee and perhaps a piece of cake before we start that boring unpacking! We love finding great new cottages, part of the fun of a holiday is not quite knowing where you're going!

Houghton Accomodation

Throughout the West Sussex area rates will vary quite a bit throughout the year - clearly the winter is the cheapest time. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the Houghton school summer holidays.

Half term in the summer extends across the first half of June, as different schools break up at different times. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. Some of the best cottages in Houghton are really excellent and so we encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid availability disappointment.

We've often found the properties have a list of nearby places to grab a bite or a beer - and if the owners are nearby they may filter down the recommendations based on your needs. Houghton West Sussex cottages in are not just good value, but also offer the benefits of home comforts versus a hotel.

If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.

Families, Friends and More

There are many benefits to a self-catering holiday in Houghton. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

You can decide what food and drink you want to consume, and you can choose when to sit down and eat it... or even stand up and eat it! For many people the idea of a Houghton cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
