Many holiday cottages to discover!

In HP3, whatever time of year, and whoever you are with, we have a few suggestions for essentials to take along. Definitely pack some waterproof clothing. There's no such thing as a guarantee against the rain and there's nothing worse than being stuck inside.

We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. Although you can buy your essential food and drink items locally, it's great to have them with you so you can make a sandwich or a cup of coffee as soon as you arrive. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

HP3 Accomodation

The rates for HP3 cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the HP3 school summer holidays.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Last minute bookings are alway possible, though clearly your choices will be fewer. It really is worth booking early.

Cottage agencies are growing in size as a greater number of independents sign up with them. As a consumer this has a positive impact - in theory the facilities and standards are kept to a pre-agreed level.

Holiday Cottages

When you're searching for the best cottage for your stay, make sure that you've thought through the bedroom needs and allocation. Are you looking for a quaint old stone cottage in HP3 with an open fire - or something a little more child friendly with nice warm carpets and central heating?

Many HP3 visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. Not all places will welcome pets so please make sure that it's either clearly marked on the booking website, or if not drop a quick line to the owner to make sure.

Wherever you stay, whether it's in HP3 or elsewhere, we hope you have a fabulous holiday!

Families, Friends and More

There are few better ways to spend a holiday together as a family than in a holiday cottage where everyone truly is in one place, not dotted around a hotel. Young children can make your stay even more fun, and we have a few suggestions of things to bring.

Although its not to all parents' tastes, you can buy very cheap in-car DVD players to amuse the kids, and they can often be plugged into the standard power sockets when you arrive. A long car journey can turn the most engaged children into bored zombies, so take some snacks and have a few games ready to play.

Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
