Many holiday cottages to discover!

If you want to have the best cottage holiday possible in Godney, we suggest a few key items to take along. Rainproof clothing and a light umbrella should be the first things to pack. The rain only comes when you are not prepared.

We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. We have stayed in many types of cottage, and we've decided we like both traditional and modern - it just depends on where we're going.

Godney Accomodation

Throughout the Somerset area rates will vary quite a bit throughout the year - clearly the winter is the cheapest time. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the Godney school summer holidays.

If you want to avoid half-term in the summer, draw a line through the first two weeks of June. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

In recent years there has been an increase in the size of cottage agencies. Generally speaking that means that someone is always checking the quality of Godney accommodation, either in person, or based on customer feedback.

Holiday Cottages

Our site does not make reservations directly and so we ask that any queries you have with the Godney cottage are taken up with the owner or agency. Everyone owner or lettings agency can have a slightly different cancellation policy so please be sure to check before you make your reservation.

The cottage owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. Godney has long been popular as a place to stay and we encourage you to investigate the surrounding area as much as possible.

If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.

Families, Friends and More

We think that self-catering is the best way to holiday in Godney. It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).

Eat what you want, whenever you want it. And of course that's particularly good if anyone in your party suffers from food allergies or has other dietary requirements. For many people the idea of a Godney cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

For others it's an opportunity to get more active, from mountain biking to cross-country running. If you're over 60, we recommend the more relaxed approach!
