Your chosen cottage should be clean and tidy on arrival, and if it is not you should inform the owner or agency immediately so that they can sort it out swiftly. A larger number of cottages will accept pets (and for pets, read 'dogs') but you must check first. We often have late availability offers on holiday cottages for family or group bookings but you'll obviously get a restricted choice.

Forton Accomodation

The rates for Forton cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. July and August are usually Hampshire school summer holidays.

The private and state schools tend to have differing half-term dates, but normally the first half of June is summer half-term. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

More and more cottages seem to be signing up with agencies to help with their bookings.

Holiday Cottages

In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Forton please email or call the agency you made the booking with. Nearly all country cottages have free parking near the property, but you may find the urban cottages to have more parking restrictions.

We've often found the properties have a list of nearby places to grab a bite or a beer - and if the owners are nearby they may filter down the recommendations based on your needs. Forton has long been popular as a place to stay and we encourage you to investigate the surrounding area as much as possible.

We hope you have a really enjoyable holiday in Forton and remember us next year when it comes to finding the next great Hampshire cottage.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Forton. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. For many people the idea of a Forton cottage holiday allows them to relax, take long rambling walks and stop off at a country pub for a pint and a ploughman's lunch.

There's also a growing number of holidaymakers who just want to get really energetic and try new things, including abseiling, rafting, climbing and even potholing.
