If you are looking for a great British break then a cottage holiday could be the perfect answer for you, your friends or your family. We work with many partners to provide the widest selection of self-catering accommodation we can find, and we hope this makes your search much more easy. Large or small cottage, holiday makers have the freedom to eat in, eat out, stay in bed all day and generally come and go as they please - unlike a bed and breakfast. A larger number of cottages will accept pets (and for pets, read 'dogs') but you must check first. Children love to get out of the cottage (not because the cottages aren't great, but because its fun to play outside!) and this is a great benefit of staying in a country cottage. Great weather can never be guaranteed for every day, and there's obviously a chance of a downpour. If the rainclouds arrive it may be a good idea to stay inside and get out a pack of cards or an old fashioned board game. With wi-fi more and more common (but don't expect urban speeds) you could even download a few great tv shows or games. Alternatively get back in the car, drive to a local pub, and hole up for the day in front of a fire and a couple of pints.

As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. If your kids ideal break is to be locked in their room with a video games machine, then prepare the outside adventure with bikes, kites and other stuff to get them out having fun. Snacks for the car can make the trip to Kesh much more pleasant - bored kids with low blood sugar are not the perfect companions. Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
