We love cottage holidays and Dumfries and Galloway has some really great destinations and properties to rent, for families or groups of friends. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments. Large or small cottage, holiday makers have the freedom to eat in, eat out, stay in bed all day and generally come and go as they please - unlike a bed and breakfast. Always check with the Dryfebridge cottage owner before you take pets - although many are pet friendly. We often have late availability cottages to rent in Dryfebridge for all seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Benefits of staying in a county cottage include being able to jump out of the front door and take part in outdoor pursuits from walking to horse riding, and from fishing to paddling. Banking on continual excellent weather, however, can be a little short-sighted in Dumfries and Galloway. If the rainclouds arrive it may be a good idea to stay inside and get out a pack of cards or an old fashioned board game. With wi-fi more and more common (but don't expect urban speeds) you could even download a few great tv shows or games. Alternatively get back in the car, drive to a local pub, and hole up for the day in front of a fire and a couple of pints.

In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Dryfebridge please email or call the agency you made the booking with. Should you need to cancel your accommodation, again we ask you to contact the agent or owner since we cannot talk to them on your behalf. We've often found the properties have a list of nearby places to grab a bite or a beer - and if the owners are nearby they may filter down the recommendations based on your needs. If you're travelling from a long way, you may not know much about Dryfebridge so we suggest a little research in advance to find the best attractions. If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.
The fact that guests are on holiday in Dryfebridge in a rental home together, sometimes with three generations in larger rental holiday homes, brings a much different atmosphere to the cottage break or holiday. We've prepared a shortlist of things to remember for your holiday with kids, just to help the whole experience go well. If your kids ideal break is to be locked in their room with a video games machine, then prepare the outside adventure with bikes, kites and other stuff to get them out having fun. Check whether the cottage can supply cots or high chairs if you need them - you may be surprised how common this is in Dryfebridge. Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
