Dartmouth Cottages
Cottages for families and friends in and around Dartmouth

Many holiday cottages to discover!

If you want to have the best cottage holiday possible in Dartmouth, we suggest a few key items to take along. Rainproof clothing and a light umbrella should be the first things to pack. The rain only comes when you are not prepared.

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. Lastly we think turning up with a few things to eat and drink is a good start to your holiday - there's nothing worse than grumpy kids or friends when its time to unpack, and a little chocolate or a cup of coffee can work wonders. We have stayed in many types of cottage, and we've decided we like both traditional and modern - it just depends on where we're going.

Dartmouth Accomodation

Children love to get out of the cottage (not because the cottages aren't great, but because its fun to play outside!) and this is a great benefit of staying in a country cottage. Banking on non-stop sunny Devon weather, however, can be a little short-sighted.

If the rainclouds arrive it may be a good idea to stay inside and get out a pack of cards or an old fashioned board game. With wi-fi more and more common (but don't expect urban speeds) you could even download a few great tv shows or games.

Or just ignore the rain and get on with whatever you had initially planned and be determined that a little water will not spoil the day.

Holiday Cottages

When you're searching for the best cottage for your stay, make sure that you've thought through the bedroom needs and allocation. Do you need twin beds or double beds, can the kids share a room, will your friends all want separate bedrooms?

Many Dartmouth visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. We always suggest that you check with the owner if there are no pet details listed. And even if there are, it can be a good idea to let them know so they can put out a bowl of water for your dog's arrival.

We want you to have a great Devon holiday so we wish you the best of luck finding your perfect accomodation.

Families, Friends and More

The best part of going on holiday with a family is the sense of comfort you all get when walking into a Dartmouth holiday cottage - where everything there is designed to make your stay better! When you're travelling as a family with young kids there are several things we recommend you take with you.

First of all, make sure you remember their shampoo, since not all stores in Dartmouth will carry tear-free shampoo. Check whether the cottage can supply cots or high chairs if you need them - you may be surprised how common this is in Dartmouth.

And last, but not least, make sure you take your camera to capture the magic of a great fun family holiday before the kids grow up and start their own families!
