Your chosen cottage should be clean and tidy on arrival, and if it is not you should inform the owner or agency immediately so that they can sort it out swiftly. Dog owners favour cottage holidays because many properties will not just allow pets but provide a few basic supplies. We often have late availability cottages to rent in Lelant for all seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The rates for Lelant cottages are highest in the warmer months, generally aligning with the school holidays. The school summer holidays generally run from the middle of July to late August.
The private and state schools tend to have differing half-term dates, but normally the first half of June is summer half-term. Booking early is always a good idea. You have a much better chance of getting your preferred date and accommodation. But, that doesn't mean its impossible to get a late booking.
Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.
Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. If you're travelling to Lelant in a group of single people, are there enough beds in the bedrooms?
Many Lelant visitors like to bring their pets (normally dogs) when they go on holiday. If the description of the Lelant cottage does not indicate that its pet friendly, please contact the owner before confirming the booking.
Don't forget to make the most of your Cornwall holiday - none of us get enough of them!
Families, Friends and More
Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Lelant. It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).
And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. Relaxing by the river, reading a great novel, perhaps a pint in the pub - these are some of the favourite ways to enjoy some quiet time in Lelant.
But you may want to get out and burn some energy on bikes, climb a hill or mountain, or even try canoeing. Whatever you choose, please take the right clothing and equipment with you.
