For a great stay in the UK with family or friends, holiday cottages are the best way to relax and forget about the stresses of normal life. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments. Staying in a Downderry holiday cottage can be a perfect way to take a break as you can forget about household chores and focus on having fun, or a relaxing break. A larger number of cottages will accept pets (and for pets, read 'dogs') but you must check first. We often have late availability cottages to rent in Downderry for all seasons - spring, summer, autumn and winter.

Benefits of staying in a county cottage include being able to jump out of the front door and take part in outdoor pursuits from walking to horse riding, and from fishing to paddling. Trusting the sun to shine every day is rather optimistic in Downderry regardless of the time of year. If you find yourself trapped by the rain in Downderry you should pull out a board game, a good book or perhaps a game of charades! With wi-fi more and more common (but don't expect urban speeds) you could even download a few great tv shows or games. Or just ignore the rain and get on with whatever you had initially planned and be determined that a little water will not spoil the day.
In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Downderry please email or call the agency you made the booking with. Some of the best cottages in Downderry are really excellent and so we encourage you to make your reservation as soon as possible to avoid availability disappointment. Although you may not be familiar with the local area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. Downderry has long been popular as a place to stay and we encourage you to investigate the surrounding area as much as possible. A few properties have access to outdoor swimming pools, but please remember that these are often only accessible during the summer months, and that you are responsible for you own safety!

The best part of going on holiday with a family is the sense of comfort you all get when walking into a holiday cottage - where everything there is designed to make your stay better! We've prepared a shortlist of things to remember for your holiday with kids, just to help the whole experience go well. Although its not to all parents' tastes, you can buy very cheap in-car DVD players to amuse the kids, and they can often be plugged into the standard power sockets when you arrive. A lot of the cottages we've researched do have some basic infant facilities such as cots and high chairs, so definitely ask if you need them. Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.
