Cottages for families and friends in and around Cornwall

Many holiday cottages to discover!

Cottage holidays are becoming more and more synonymous with the Great British Break, which is why we have created this site. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments.

Large or small cottage, holiday makers have the freedom to eat in, eat out, stay in bed all day and generally come and go as they please - unlike a bed and breakfast. Dog owners favour cottage holidays because many properties will not just allow pets but provide a few basic supplies. Our great value holiday cottages to rent in Cornwall are sometimes available for rent for a weekend, week, fortnight, two weeks or even longer.

Cornwall Accomodation

Cornwall holiday accommodation rates increase in peak season, which is generally around the times of the school summer holidays. The school summer holidays generally run from the middle of July to late August.

Summer half-term usually appears in the first couple of weeks in June, although different types of schools have different dates. Last minute bookings are alway possible, though clearly your choices will be fewer. It really is worth booking early.

Many cottage owners have signed themselves up with national agencies to help with the marketing and administration, which also helps keep standards to a certain level.

In the unlikely event that you are not delighted with your holiday cottage in Cornwall please email or call the agency you made the booking with. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Cornwall holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract.

Many owners, if they are local, will be pleased to give you tips on the best pubs and restaurants around, so make sure you ask and take advantage of the info! Cornwall cottages in are not just good value, but also offer the benefits of home comforts versus a hotel.

A few properties have access to outdoor swimming pools, but please remember that these are often only accessible during the summer months, and that you are responsible for you own safety!

Families, Friends and More

Families love cottage holidays because they can run to their own schedule, managing everyone's unique needs in the privacy of a comfortable home. When you're travelling as a family with young kids there are several things we recommend you take with you.

Its always a good idea to take swim suits even if you don't expect to be near a beach because you may well find a local swimming pool can be great fun. If the children are really young, don't forget to take nappies and / or a potty as you may find it harder to buy these at your destination.

Clothes for the full range of weather; just because you don't think that it looks good outside in the rain it doesn't mean that the little ones will agree.
