Many holiday cottages to discover!

If you want to have the best cottage holiday possible in Congleton, we suggest a few key items to take along. Preparing for a little rain is always a good plan. An umbrella and an anorak or rain coat can get everyone smiling even on the worse days.

We always make sure we take a good book. There's always plenty of downtime on a cottage holiday, and so it's a great time to catch up on a read. There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. Many people have favourite places they return to again and again, whereas we like to find new places to stay.

Children love to get out of the cottage (not because the cottages aren't great, but because its fun to play outside!) and this is a great benefit of staying in a country cottage. Trusting the sun to shine every day is rather optimistic in Congleton regardless of the time of year.

If the rainclouds arrive it may be a good idea to stay inside and get out a pack of cards or an old fashioned board game. Many cottages now have DVD players so maybe its worth taking a few a classic movies with you.

Or you can just embrace the weather and get out there in a raincoat, splash about, and pretend that you really are still young.

We deal with some of the best cottage agencies in the country so we're confident that they will resolve any small issues you may encounter. Should you need to cancel your accommodation, again we ask you to contact the agent or owner since we cannot talk to them on your behalf.

Many owners, if they are local, will be pleased to give you tips on the best pubs and restaurants around, so make sure you ask and take advantage of the info! If you're travelling from a long way, you may not know much about Congleton so we suggest a little research in advance to find the best attractions.

If you are travelling from abroad, please make sure that you have the correct visas (if required) and all the passports are up to date.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering holidays can be the most fun in Congleton. No worrying about getting to the dining room in time, either before the hotel declares that breakfast is over, or trying to fit in with other b and b guests.

And if you have specific dietary needs, whether that's something relatively common like vegetarianism or a more unusual food allergy, cooking your own food allows you peace of mind. A large number of our visitors like to use their stay as an opportunity to just put their feet up, gaze at the scenery, take an afternoon nap, and enjoy a nice home cooked meal. Just taking it easy in Congleton.

But you may want to get out and burn some energy on bikes, climb a hill or mountain, or even try canoeing. Whatever you choose, please take the right clothing and equipment with you.
