Cottages for families and friends in and around Castle Douglas

Many holiday cottages to discover!

In Castle Douglas, whatever time of year, and whoever you are with, we have a few suggestions for essentials to take along. Preparing for a little rain is always a good plan. An umbrella and an anorak or rain coat can get everyone smiling even on the worse days.

If your family and friends are anything like ours, you should have a good book ready to fill those times when everyone's getting ready, or waiting for them to come back from a long walk. Finally you should take a few initial supplies, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some cheese. Of course you can usually buy them locally but it's easy to forget and there's nothing better than a cup of tea before you start unpacking. We love finding great new cottages, part of the fun of a holiday is not quite knowing where you're going!

Castle Douglas Accomodation

Besides the facilities within the Castle Douglas cottages, our guests have been known to talk long walks, go horse riding and even more adventurous activities such as climbing. As we all know, the weather isn't always idyllic - in fact it can be largely unpredictable.

We live in a country where we're no stranger to rain and preparing for the inevitable downpour is always a good idea. Cottage owners sometimes leave a few distractions around the property, such as local magazines or guidebooks.

Or just ignore the rain and get on with whatever you had initially planned and be determined that a little water will not spoil the day.

Holiday Cottages

As a reminder, we do not actually take the cottage bookings, we simply connect your with the agencies or owners. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Castle Douglas holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract.

The cottage owners may leave some hints for good places to visit nearby and on occasion we've even found that they'll suggest a specific pub or restaurant where you can get a discount. Castle Douglas has long been popular as a place to stay and we encourage you to investigate the surrounding area as much as possible.

We hope you have a really enjoyable holiday in Castle Douglas and remember us next year when it comes to finding the next great Dumfries and Galloway cottage.

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering always makes your holiday more relaxing in Castle Douglas. No worrying about getting to the dining room in time, either before the hotel declares that breakfast is over, or trying to fit in with other b and b guests.

Eat what you want, whenever you want it. And of course that's particularly good if anyone in your party suffers from food allergies or has other dietary requirements. Relaxing by the river, reading a great novel, perhaps a pint in the pub - these are some of the favourite ways to enjoy some quiet time in Castle Douglas.

There's also a growing number of holidaymakers who just want to get really energetic and try new things, including abseiling, rafting, climbing and even potholing.
