We love cottage holidays and Bedfordshire has some really great destinations and properties to rent, for families or groups of friends. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments. Staying in a Broom holiday cottage can be a perfect way to take a break as you can forget about household chores and focus on having fun, or a relaxing break. Always check with the Broom cottage owner before you take pets - although many are pet friendly. We often have late availability offers on holiday cottages for family or group bookings but you'll obviously get a restricted choice.

Besides the facilities within the Broom cottages, our guests have been known to talk long walks, go horse riding and even more adventurous activities such as climbing. As we all know, the weather isn't always idyllic - in fact it can be largely unpredictable. If you find yourself trapped by the rain in Broom you should pull out a board game, a good book or perhaps a game of charades! Some cottages will provide a few books and magazines but you aren't likely to get the latest blockbuster or this month's Vogue. Or you can just embrace the weather and get out there in a raincoat, splash about, and pretend that you really are still young.
All the agents we work with have good customer service teams, so please contact them if you have additional questions or problems. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Broom holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract. Although you may not be familiar with the local area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. If you're travelling from a long way, you may not know much about Broom so we suggest a little research in advance to find the best attractions. A few properties have access to outdoor swimming pools, but please remember that these are often only accessible during the summer months, and that you are responsible for you own safety!

The best part of going on holiday with a family is the sense of comfort you all get when walking into a holiday cottage - where everything there is designed to make your stay better! We've prepared a shortlist of things to remember for your holiday with kids, just to help the whole experience go well. Although its not to all parents' tastes, you can buy very cheap in-car DVD players to amuse the kids, and they can often be plugged into the standard power sockets when you arrive. A long car journey can turn the most engaged children into bored zombies, so take some snacks and have a few games ready to play. Sometimes just taking a few soft toys from home can make bedtime feel more comfortable in a strange house, and they don't need to take much space in the boot.

USING THE SITE

There are many companies that offer a range of holiday cottages you can directly book, but our approach is different - we have collated thousands of cottages from different owners and operators and we organise them to help you choose. When you find a cottage you like we will direct you to the booking agent and you can make your reservation directly with them.
