To make the best of your trip in Bassetlaw, we recommend you bring some essential items. Definitely pack some waterproof clothing. There's no such thing as a guarantee against the rain and there's nothing worse than being stuck inside.

If you have a DVD player in the cottage, definitely take a few great movies. It's so enjoyable to curl up in the evening and watch a classic film. Finally you should take a few initial supplies, such as tea, coffee, milk, bread and some cheese. Of course you can usually buy them locally but it's easy to forget and there's nothing better than a cup of tea before you start unpacking. We're often asked which is the best place to stay, and it's so hard to answer, it really depends what you are looking for.

Bassetlaw Accomodation

Getting outside is one of the great benefits of staying in the countryside since so many of us live in urban centres where the air is polluted and greenery is a rarity. You can never truly rely on the weather in Bassetlaw or frankly anywhere in the UK.

If you find yourself trapped by the rain in Bassetlaw you should pull out a board game, a good book or perhaps a game of charades! Cottage owners sometimes leave a few distractions around the property, such as local magazines or guidebooks.

Whatever you decide, we're sure it will be a memorable part of your cottage holiday in Bassetlaw.

Holiday Cottages

Before you book that 16th Century thatched roof cottage with low ceilings, you may want to ask the tallest people in your group/family whether the olde worlds charm outweighs the pain of bumping heads on beams. Do you need twin beds or double beds, can the kids share a room, will your friends all want separate bedrooms?

Dog owners often like to spend their holidays in the UK so that they can take their four legged friends with them. We always suggest that you check with the owner if there are no pet details listed. And even if there are, it can be a good idea to let them know so they can put out a bowl of water for your dog's arrival.

Don't forget to make the most of your holiday - none of us get enough of them!

Families, Friends and More

Self-catering is an ideal way to holiday in Bassetlaw. It's so much more relaxing when you can eat when it suits you - cooking exactly when you want (and whatever you want).

Of course it also means that you can skip a meal in the accommodation and just eat out - perhaps grab some fish and chips, or maybe a pizza or burger. A large number of our visitors like to use their stay as an opportunity to just put their feet up, gaze at the scenery, take an afternoon nap, and enjoy a nice home cooked meal. Just taking it easy in Bassetlaw.

There's also a growing number of holidaymakers who just want to get really energetic and try new things, including abseiling, rafting, climbing and even potholing.
