Many holiday cottages to discover!

To make the best of your trip in BR1, we recommend you bring some essential items. Rainproof clothing and a light umbrella should be the first things to pack. The rain only comes when you are not prepared.

We think a good book is another essential. Not just an opportunity to catch up on your reading, but also to pass the time waiting for everyone else to get themselves ready, or wait out the rain! There are obviously local stores that can supply you with all the food you need, but we always like to arrive with coffee, tea bags, a pint of milk, a bar of chocolate and some bread and butter for the toaster - it's good to get the energy up after a long journey. We find it really hard to decide which type of cottage we like best. Generally we just enjoy going away!

BR1 Accomodation

Cottage prices in BR1 will range from high to low throughout the year, but clearly the summer months will be the most expensive as remand increases. Mid-July til the end of August are the core weeks for the BR1 school summer holidays.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. It's becoming less likely to book the best cottages last minute, but by no means impossible. We recommend you give it a try.

Cottage agencies are growing in size as a greater number of independents sign up with them. As a consumer this has a positive impact - in theory the facilities and standards are kept to a pre-agreed level.

Families, Friends and More

There are many benefits to a self-catering holiday in BR1. You take away some of the pressure that appears when staying in a hotel or b and b - you must eat your meals at this time, you must order from this menu.

You can decide what food and drink you want to consume, and you can choose when to sit down and eat it... or even stand up and eat it! Waking up without the alarm, cooking a nice hearty breakfast, perhaps sitting by the river for a spot of fishing or just reading a book.

But you may want to get out and burn some energy on bikes, climb a hill or mountain, or even try canoeing. Whatever you choose, please take the right clothing and equipment with you.
