Many holiday cottages to discover!

For a great stay in the UK with family or friends, holiday cottages are the best way to relax and forget about the stresses of normal life. The vast majority of our self-catering properties are cottages in rural towns and villages, but we do have some city based properties, many of which are apartments.

The best family rental holiday cottages in Ayr are typically small homes for rent that can be treated like your own home for the duration of your cottage holiday. Dog owners favour cottage holidays because many properties will not just allow pets but provide a few basic supplies. We often have late availability offers on holiday cottages for family or group bookings but you'll obviously get a restricted choice.

Ayr Accomodation

In Ayr, high season tends to match the summer school holidays, with mid-season a month either side. July and August are usually South Ayrshire school summer holidays.

Half term dates are different for different schools, but normally summer half-term is around the first two weeks of June. Although we really encourage you too book your cottage early, there are opportunities for last minute bookings, so it can be worth checking.

In recent years there has been an increase in the size of cottage agencies. Generally speaking that means that someone is always checking the quality of Ayr accommodation, either in person, or based on customer feedback.

Our site does not make reservations directly and so we ask that any queries you have with the Ayr cottage are taken up with the owner or agency. It is of course possible that you need to cancel your Ayr holiday cottage so ensure you read the cancellation terms on the agency or owners website / contract.

Although you may not be familiar with the Ayr area you'll usually find that the owners have left a welcome manual with details of local places to eat, drink and buy supplies. Ayr is a great locations for a cottage holiday due to their proximity to local facilities and amenities.

Some properties will ask for a security deposit before your arrival date - although this is required in a minority of accommodation and you will be advised at time of booking.

Families, Friends and More

The best part of going on holiday with a family is the sense of comfort you all get when walking into a Ayr holiday cottage - where everything there is designed to make your stay better! Young children can make your stay even more fun, and we have a few suggestions of things to bring.

If your kids ideal break is to be locked in their room with a video games machine, then prepare the outside adventure with bikes, kites and other stuff to get them out having fun. A lot of the cottages we've researched do have some basic infant facilities such as cots and high chairs, so definitely ask if you need them.

Clothes for the full range of weather; just because you don't think that it looks good outside in the rain it doesn't mean that the little ones will agree.
